Some treasures don’t reveal themselves at once. They wait for the right gaze.
This Piaget Ref. 9513 — a small envelope of gold, a secret folded in time — was one of them.
A Quiet Discovery in Palermo
Found by Gaetano Chiavetta, it rested quietly in the old display cabinet of one of Palermo’s most historic jewelleries.
It carried the discreet elegance of the 1960s:
- the soft glow of 18K gold,
- the precision of the Piaget 9P movement,
- the unexpected sparkle of a tiny sapphire hidden within its mechanism.
Its beauty was understated, almost discreet. Partially concealed by the small crocodile pouch in which it had been kept, it revealed itself only to those with the eyes to truly see it.
And Gaetano Chiavetta is someone who understands beauty. He purchased the watch without a moment’s hesitation.

A Story That Waited to Be Told
When he returned to London and placed it in my hands, I felt its story immediately — quiet, intact, waiting.
I chose to curate it myself: to photograph it gently, to follow its traces through history,
to let it speak in its own soft way, to imagine what someone might once have hidden in the secret compartment behind the hinged watch.
Some objects deserve that kind of attention. This one certainly did.
